Faculty Pension Plan 2011 Annual Report

The Faculty Pension Plan‘s 2011 Annual Report is online. This year’s report includes yearly membership and financial statistics, fund and investment managers’ rates of return, a market commentary, and the 2011 financial statements.  Please also see the section on the Plan’s newest member event  – the FPP Pension Forum.  This event is a great opportunity for members to learn more about their pension plan and other UBC resources available for Faculty.

Great opportunity for Faculty Pension Plan members to learn more about their pension plan.

UBC Faculty Pension Plan members are invited to attend the Plan’s Pension Forum.  Members will have an opportunity to ask FPP staff in person about their investment and retirement options, fund performance, and member services.  Representatives from Service Canada, UBC Retirement and Survivor Benefits, and Faculty Relations will be present to answer your questions as well.  There will also be a 30-minute presentation on the Plan’s 2011 investment performance and 2011/12 initiatives, followed by at 15-minute question period.  Please see the Pension Forum invitation for event details.

Want to learn more about your Staff Pension Plan? Don't miss out on this year's Pension Fair!

The SPP Pension Fair takes place on Tuesday, May 29 from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm. The fair will be held in the Arbutus Room, Ponderosa Centre, 2071 West Mall (at University Boulevard) [map]. No RSVP is required.

There will be information booths and several opportunities to learn more about the Staff Pension Plan as well as UBC HR’s Retirement and Survivor Benefits. We are also pleased to have the following groups in attendance:

UBC has been named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers in 2012.

UBC’s many sustainability oriented initiatives include the Sustainability Coordinators Program, Sustainability in Rez, the “100-mile dinners” program, and, more broadly, UBC’s commitment to aggressive greenhouse gas emission reductions and the continued development of new facilities that meet or exceed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification.

The Sustainability Coordinators Program provides staff with the support, awareness, skills and tools needed to champion sustainability in their departments. Over 150 Sustainability Coordinators inspire their colleagues to make changes in energy use, food conservation, waste management and recycling, and in choosing sustainable office supplies.

UBC is a hub for green innovation and research excellence, with students, staff and faculty involved in turning the campus into a living laboratory for sustainability. The Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability, a showcase for green construction with minimal impact on the environment, opened in late 2011 and is currently targeting LEED Platinum certification.
