The $45,000 Down Payment Assistance (DPA) program remains available for all full-time faculty for 10 years from the date of their eligible appointment. The DPA amount will increase to $50,000 to mitigate inflationary pressures for new faculty hired on or after July 1, 2017. The Mortgage Interest Assistance (MIA) program will be discontinued.

In recognition of these goals, the University has created the UBC Down Payment Assistance Program in 2009 to help retain and recruit top quality faculty. Full time faculty members within 10 years of initial UBC appointment date may be eligible for either:
- $45,000 Down Payment Assistance (DPA) for those hired before July 1, 2017; or
- $50,000 DPA for those full-time faculty hired on or after July 1, 2017.
The DPA must be applied to the purchase of primary residence within the Metro Vancouver, on or off-campus.
