UBC Attractions

UBC Faculty & Staff can get free admission to the UBC Attractions at the Vancouver campus, by showing their UBC Card. You can visit the Museum of Anthropology, the UBC Botanical Garden and Nitobe Memorial Garden, as well as to the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery.


Healthy Workplace Events & Initiatives

Health is supported by an active, lifelong process of making positive choices and decisions that lead to a balanced and fulfilling life. Healthy UBC Initiatives are free ongoing university-wide programs, trainings and educational opportunities that focus on promoting positive mental health and physical wellbeing for staff, faculty and departments.


Welcome Back BBQ

Each September, UBC staff are invited to a Welcome Back BBQ hosted by Human Resources and produced by Ceremonies & Events. This is a great opportunity to visit with your colleagues and to tour the booths showcasing services to UBC staff. Look for the email invitation in August.

UBC Theatre

Theatre at UBC is recognized as one of Canada’s foremost Theatre programs. Plays feature artists on faculty and guest companies from around the world, as well as graduate and undergraduate theatre students. Faculty and staff receive 2 for 1 tickets to any Theatre at UBC season production at the Frederic Wood Theatre or TELUS Studio Theatre.


Free Subscription to University Affairs

UBC faculty and staff are eligible for complimentary subscriptions to the University Affairs magazine, as UBC is a member of Universities Canada.


Athletics and Recreation (Okanagan campus)

Staff and faculty at the Okanagan campus have access to recreational activities and facilities, and can attend Heat varsity sports games.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts

From classical, jazz, theatre, and opera to world music, the Chan Centre is a vital part of UBC campus life where artistic and academic disciplines merge to inspire new perspectives on life and culture. Past performers and guest speakers include Wynton Marsalis, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Renée Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, Mariza, Sigur Rós, Mavis Staples, Lila Downs, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. UBC Opera

The University of British Columbia Opera Ensemble is led by Canadian lyric coloratura Nancy Hermiston as Head of the Voice and Opera Divisions. The70-member company, performs three main productions at UBC every season. In addition UBC Opera hosts Opera Teas, and an Opera Ball as well as symposiums and talks with guest artists.
