Monthly Premium Rates for RSB

You are responsible for paying the monthly premium rates for the Retirement & Survivors Benefits (RSB) Program. The table below shows the monthly cost for Extended Health, Dental and the Employee and Family Assistance Program as of January 1, 2019. It also includes the monthly cost for the Medical Services Plan. All BC residents must be enrolled in MSP, and you can add your monthly MSP premiums to your RSB costs.

These rates are reviewed annually and may change on January 1st of each year. Changes to premiums are calculated based on past claim costs and to account for ongoing inflation.

Medical Services Plan

All residents of BC must be enrolled in the provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP). The BC Ministry of Health sets premium rates that are subject to annual review and change.

You can enroll in MSP through the RSB Program. Your monthly MSP premium charges will be added to your monthly RSB premium payments.

If your annual income is below a certain amount, you can apply for assistance in paying your MSP premiums. Read more on the MSP site.
