Healthy UBC Lunch & Learn Series

The Healthy UBC Lunch & Learn Series focuses on topics to help UBC faculty and staff make informed choices about their health. Courses include Healthy Eating Habits, Effective Communication, Managing Your Time and Energy, Healthy Sleep Habits, Stress Busters and many more. Register for these courses online.

Health and Wellbeing Events

UBC has a range of annual events that focus on health promotion and wellbeing which are available to everyone at the Vancouver campus (Point Grey and Hospital sites). Below are just a few, to view all offerings and events visit www.hr.ubc.ca/health 

  • Visit our Virtual Health Fair to take free online health quizzes and assessments.
  • Thrive is a week-long series of events focused on building positive mental health for UBC students faculty, and staff.
  • The Travelling Health Fair is a two-week event that hosts visits by healthcare practitioners to different locations at the Vancouver campus. Faculty and Staff can sign up for one-on-one health assessments and consultations.
  • Faculty & Staff Sports Day, an annual faculty and staff event, brings together teams from across campus to compete in a variety of intellectual and physical challenges.

UBC Rec

Take part in intramurals events, tournaments, and athletics instructional classes with UBC REC. At the beginning of each semester, UBC REC hosts a “Shopping Week” where faculty and staff can try out classes for free – check out the website for full details at http://www.rec.ubc.ca/.

UBC Thunderbirds

UBC’s varsity sport teams at the Vancouver campus are called the Thunderbirds. During the varsity season, check out a home game and cheer for our student athletes. Schedules and tickets are available at http://www.gothunderbirds.ca/.

Help make UBC Vancouver a more ‘Positive Space

If you are looking for a chance to foster a welcoming atmosphere for LGBTTQIA+ students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies on campus, you’re invited to sign up for a Positive Space workshop. In the workshops the facilitators will review issues and resources related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, trans and queer, intersex (LGBTTQIA+) students, staff and faculty.Workshops are 2 hours in length and are held throughout the year on both campuses. Health is supported by an active, lifelong process of making positive choices and decisions that lead to a balanced and fulfilling life. The goal of the Health Promotions Program is to create and sustain an environment that encourages healthy behaviours at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
