- Carl Rogers This website is dedicated to informing you about all the learning opportunities that are available to UBC faculty and staff, teams and departments, as well as external clients from other organizations. We believe that Organizational Development & Learning isn't just about sending people off to courses to get fixed...among other things our goal is to encourage people to examine and challenge the assumptions that act as a filter for all learning. We have tried to create learning opportunities that demonstrate the philosophy behind our approach to learning and that epitomize our vision "Every moment is a learning opportunity" We use the term "learning" in a very broad sense to encompass those activities that engage you in changing the way you think about or do things and result in something new and better... an experience of growth. While training can develop new skills, only reflective learning can lead to transformation. We are dedicated to supporting reflective learning that engages and resonates with a deeper aspect of ourselves regardless of our position in the organization. As UBC strives to become the model of a "learning organization", our learning opportunities in Organizational Development & Learning will attempt to meet the emerging needs of both individual and organizational learning. Our learning opportunities are called Service Solutions because learning is often motivated by the need to find solutions to problems. Whether you want to move away from a state (whether that be lack of skill, lack of team collaboration, conflict etc.,) or you want to move toward greater satisfaction in the workplace (enhance your relationships at work, the performance of your team, the vision of your department,) your enquiry generally starts with a search for a solution.
