Faculty and staff in Vancouver are invited to share their housing experience by participating in the 2019 UBC Faculty and Staff Housing Needs Survey.
The results from this important survey will update UBC’s understanding of faculty and staff demographics, household composition, current housing circumstances, and future housing needs and preferences. This information will also help inform ongoing strategic policy discussions related to faculty and staff housing support.
The deadline for responses is April 7, 2019. If you have any questions about this survey, please contact UBC Housing and Relocation Services at 604-827-2296.

The Staff Rent-Geared-to-Income program is accepting applications Nov. 1-30, 2018. Please visit the Staff Rent-Geared-to-Income program page to learn about eligibility requirements and to apply.
The Staff Rent-Geared-to-Income program will provide up to 100 eligible staff members over three years with accommodation in Village Gate Homes apartment units, paying rent capped at 30% of their pre-tax household income. One- to three-bedroom units are available, depending on the size of the household.
About the program: The Staff Rent-Geared-to-Income Rental Program is administered by Faculty Staff Housing & Relocation Services, on behalf of UBC’s Provost Office and Department of Human Resources.
The implementation framework for this pilot housing programs was approved by the Board of Governors on June 14, 2017 (click here for the report) as follow-through on UBC Housing Action Plan Policy #5 for the Vancouver campus.
The rental units that are available through the Staff Rent-Geared-to-Income Rental Program are owned and operated by Village Gate Homes, a subsidiary of UBC Properties Trust.

As part of UBC’s Housing Action Plan, UBC has created a Rent-Geared-to-Income pilot program to provide rental housing on campus for up to 100 lower income staff households, to be phased in over the next two to three years. Rent will be geared to 30% of pre-tax household income, rather than a set percentage discount from market rates.
Action: Please share this information with eligible staff in your units. The deadline for this year’s applications is March 22, 2018.

The University Community on Campus – UBC’s Housing Action Plan, is UBC’s newly adopted plan to improve housing affordability and choice on the Vancouver campus for faculty, staff and students. The Plan lays out numerous housing program options for UBC faculty, including a restricted home ownership program and Housing Assistance Program for tenure and tenure-track faculty, restricted rental housing and preferential access to new market leasehold units.
