Sept. 18 IRP HR call-in session: The employee lifecycle: Staff recruitment

The next Integrated Renewal Program HR call-in session will be Sept. 18, 9:00-10:00 a.m., where the team will provide an overview and demo of creating positions (including classification) in Workday. Human resources practitioners at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses are welcome to join.

IRP HR Call-In Session Recordings

Supporting career development at UBC

As part of your role as a manager/administrator at UBC, there is a lot you can do to support your staff with their career and professional development goals. As we launch into the new academic year, here are some resources you can share with staff and faculty in your department to help them plan their professional development for the year.

Professional Development Funds

UBC is committed to providing staff and faculty with improved access to professional development opportunities, through access to professional development funds. Please select your employee group to learn more about the funds available to you.

Faculty

Professional Development Workshops

Human Resources holds several professional development workshops throughout the year, available to staff and faculty. Please see our catalog to learn about the PD workshops coming up this fall.

Eligible staff and faculty can apply to use their PD funding for these workshops.

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning offers an online collection of self-guided instructional videos designed to provide staff and faculty with just-in-time resources to assist in a variety of areas, including updating software skills, learning new technology tools, and enhancing workplace business practices.

UBC provides faculty and staff with free and unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning’s learning resources. To start using LinkedIn Learning, visit https://linkedinlearning.ubc.ca and sign in with your CWL.

Tuition Waivers

Staff in most employee groups have access to UBC tuition waivers for credit courses, and for non-credit courses at UBC Extended Learning (as well as select Sauder School of Business Continuing Business Studies courses).
