For the HR Community of Practice
This year’s UBC Workplace Experiences Survey is open until midnight on Nov. 21. Please encourage the staff and faculty in your units to fill out the survey, to share their experiences at UBC with us. For those faculty and staff who did not receive an individualized survey link, they can access the survey via http://www.focusonpeople.ubc.ca/workplace-experiences-survey/.
Strong participation gives us the representative data necessary to better identify and focus on priorities that will make the greatest difference to faculty and staff, both locally and across the institution. This effort to understand faculty and staff experiences and needs has strong support from the President’s Office.
The survey was last run in 2011, and through considerable consultation with faculty and staff we have evolved and refined the survey questionnaire significantly. Most importantly, we have developed tailored versions of questionnaire for faculty and staff to ensure that the questions and resulting data is meaningful and relevant.
Similar to 2011, unit-level reports will be available, provided there are at least 10 responses. You can use this data to better understand faculty and staff experiences in your portfolio and support your strategic planning efforts. To learn about institutional initiatives resulting from the 2011 survey findings, please visit: http://www.focusonpeople.ubc.ca/workplace-experiences-survey/2011-survey-actions/.
How can you help?
Please take the survey yourself and encourage faculty and staff in your areas to participate. Materials are available to assist you, including speaking points, email templates, and FAQs (please see http://www.focusonpeople.ubc.ca/workplace-experiences-survey/2014-toolkit/ ).
