Wondering what the buzz is around Mindfulness? This HR Studio will introduce the concept, history, research and practice of mindfulness, and mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness Meditation is a form of mental exercise that has shown to cultivate structural and functional changes in the brain enhancing focused attention, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness. We will explore the science highlighting those mechanisms of mindfulness as an essential human resource for wellbeing, teamwork, and productivity in the workplace. We will also question the relationship between the principles of mindfulness practice and the skills for approaching conflict, navigating change, and having difficult conversations.
Mindfulness is an example of a practice for people that can enact the human side of change through inquiry, and our common shared strength of awareness.
This session will be facilitated by Geoffrey Soloway, Ph.D. (UBC Human Resources’ Health and Wellness Specialist)
