For HR Administrators
Hiring or promoting people into management roles? The Managing@UBC program is ramping up again for the fall – so encourage those eligible to apply now.
Managing@UBC is a program designed to support new managers in their first year, recognizing the significant responsibility they hold for employee performance and engagement and achievement of unit goals.
The program uses a self-directed learning model so managers can identify and develop their learning goals from a menu of resources provided to help them fulfill their roles. The program includes workshops, studios, lunch and learns, and online lessons. A few of the topics covered are Expanding your Influence and Credibility, Employee Relations, Difficult Conversations, and UBC Governance Structure.
Eligible participants may have just been promoted to a manager role, or have recently arrived at UBC. Managers in the program must be part of the Management and Professional Group and have direct reports. The program is funded by Human Resources.
