A message from Suzanne Jolly, HR Health Promotions Coordinator
Please save the date for Thrive 2012: Nov. 5-9, 2012. Thrive is a week focused on highlighting how we all contribute to building positive mental health for all members of our University. We encourage groups, clubs, departments/units all over UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses to highlight how they build positive mental health for their own people, or for the entire community.
We define thrive as a verb with five unique components:
- To engage with your community.
- To maintain a healthy social support system.
- To prosper intellectually.
- To prioritize body and mind.
- To grow as an individual in meaningful ways.
Thriving at UBC, however, is about a year-round commitment to our community’s health through various individual and organizational choices. This year, we plan to celebrate the numerous role models and the variety of ways that we can build on our positive mental health as individuals and organizations.
So we ask you: how do you thrive at UBC? Reflect on what thriving at UBC means to you and what it looks like in your personal and/or professional life. Share your unique ideas with us and we may ask you to join us in a video series, much like the ones we developed last year: http://thrive.ubc.ca/building-positive-mental-health-at-ubc/
We also might share the idea with others on our HealthyUBC Twitter feed through our #thriveatubc Twitter campaign.
