|14-Feb-17||The University has requested that Village Gate Homes stratify the waitlist into priority bands based on the new Faculty and Staff Housing Eligibility and Allocation Guidelines (the Guidelines), effective immediately in order to ensure strategic use of the growing but currently limited faculty and staff rental inventory. As a result, the access to the Village Gate Homes units is prioritized as below:
|6-Dec-16||The Board of Governors approved the 10 year faculty housing strategy. This spotlight on faculty housing programs has focused on finding ways to strengthen strategic recruiting and retention effectiveness of both the rental program (its appeal, pace of inventory expansion, continued affordability, and timely availability to new recruits arriving from out of town) as well as improved funding and geographic flexibility for the faculty ownership program, click here for details.|
|21-Nov-16||An updated proposal in response to the 2015 Faculty Home Ownership Program consultation was considered by the Board Finance Committee on November 21, 2016. It will go forward to the Board on December 6, 2016 for consideration. The report can be viewed online here.
The resulting proposal — the 10-year Faculty Housing Strategy — expands rental options, increases supply and format choices, increases downpayment assistance, and introduces more flexible homeownership loan program for home purchases anywhere in Metro Vancouver. Its proposed changes respond to the feedback above from faculty members in 2015 and subsequent discussions with Deans.

|22-Feb-16||Faculty & Staff Housing Needs Survey 2016: In order to ensure that ongoing housing policy development at the university is appropriately informed by an accurate picture of the housing needs, preferences and demographic profile of its faculty and staff, the University is conducting a 5 year update to its Faculty Staff Housing Needs Study until March 6th. All faculty and staff are encouraged to complete the voluntary Faculty Staff Housing Needs Survey 2016 to ensure the important baseline information it generates is as representative as possible.|
