Due to the contractual commitments, it is highly advisable that Faculty Relations review and approve Tenured and Tenure Track Offer letters before they are signed by both parties, unless you use the UBC Faculty Relations approved template with no contractual changes. In drafting your offer letter for tenured and tenure track positions, you have the following three options:
If you have questions about the contractual elements of the offer letter templates or require a pre-approval of a letter, please contact Mark Trowell, Senior Manager, mtrowell@exchange.ubc.ca or Maureen Webb, Senior Manager, email: maureen.webb@ubc.ca. If you have questions about the new process required for offer letters, please contact Bekkah Coburn, Advisor, email:Bekkah.Coburn@ubc.ca.
Please review the Procedures and Documentation for Tenured and Tenure Track Offer Letters.
Please complete the Documentation form and submit it with the Offer Letter to Faculty Relations for all Tenured and Tenure Track offer letters.
Note that a signed offer letter which does not follow the revised Faculty Relations template or has not been pre-approved will be the responsibility of the unit, in terms of legal consequences that may flow from the contractual terms (including legal fees and potential damages). Where a pre-approval is requested, Faculty Relations will aim to provide an answer within 24 hours.
In order to support and promote the University’s salary equity goals, documentation of the starting salary and the rationale for the salary offer is required. Document the starting salary and indicate whether or not you require a review of the offer letter using the Procedures and Documentation for Tenure Track Offer Letters form. This form must be included with every Tenured and Tenure Track offer letter and accompanying Tenured and Tenure Track faculty appointment form.
