AAPS Agreement Ratified

We are pleased to share that the three-year collective agreement between the University and AAPS has been ratified by all parties and is now in full effect. This agreement covers the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.

AAPS represents approximately 5,600 Management and Professional employees at both UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan.

We wish to congratulate and thank the bargaining teams for their hard work, patience and commitment to reaching an agreement through negotiations.

CUPE 2278 Agreement Ratified

We are pleased to share that the three-year collective agreement between the University and CUPE 2278 has been ratified by all parties and is now in full effect. This agreement covers the period September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025.

CUPE 2278 represents approximately 2600 Teaching Assistants, Tutors, and Marker and 35 Instructors at the English Language Institute at UBC Vancouver.

We wish to congratulate and thank the bargaining teams for their hard work, patience and commitment to reaching an agreement through negotiations.

IUOE 115 Agreement Ratified

We are pleased to share that the three-year collective agreement between the University and IUOE 115 has been ratified by all parties and is now in full effect. This agreement covers the period April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025.

IUOE 115 represents approximately 65 employees in the operation the University’s District Energy System and in the maintenance and operation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems at UBC Vancouver.

We wish to congratulate and thank the bargaining teams for their hard work, patience and commitment to reaching an agreement through negotiations.

AAPS Tentative Agreement

We are pleased to share that the University and AAPS have reached a tentative agreement. This agreement covers the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.

Wage increases under this agreement are consistent with the BC Government’s 2022 Shared Recovery Mandate. The renewed agreement also reflects the mutual interests of both AAPS and the University in our many strategic plans and operational initiatives. These details, along with other elements and improvements will be communicated once the agreement is ratified by both parties.

We are pleased to share that the University and CUPE 2278 have reached a tentative agreement. This agreement covers the period September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2025.

BCGEU Vancouver (Child Care) Agreement Ratified

We are pleased to share that the three-year collective agreement between the University Child Care Services and BCGEU has been ratified by all parties and is now in full effect. This agreement covers the period May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2025.

BCGEU represents approximately 220 childcare staff at the Vancouver campus.

Joint announcement from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association

The following message is a joint announcement on collective bargaining from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association, sent on behalf of Dory Nason, President, UBC Faculty Association and Deborah Buszard, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia.

We are pleased to announce that the Collective Agreement between the UBC Faculty Association and UBC, July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025, has been ratified by both parties with a ratification date of June 1, 2023. A copy of the Agreement will be posted to our respective websites once finalized.

The parties worked hard to achieve this Agreement and we believe it that contains many improvements that will benefit both the Faculty Association membership and the University. We would like to thank both negotiating committees for all their hard work and leadership. We look forward to continuing our work together.

AAPS Bargaining Update

AAPS and the University have had seven days of productive bargaining, most recently on May 25 and May 26. The general tone of bargaining has been constructive and collaborative, and the parties have resolved multiple issues.

AAPS have chosen to invoke the Fact Finder process established in the Framework Agreement in an effort to resolve a limited number of remaining issues. While we do not intend to respond in any detail to AAPS’ bulletin of May 29, we wish to note that the some of the explanations of the positions taken by the University are incomplete, and/or lack the context provided at the table. That said, we respect AAPS’ ability to take this action and will follow the process set out for a Fact Finder under the Framework Agreement.

CUPE 2950 Agreement Ratified

We are pleased to share that the three-year collective agreement between the University and CUPE 2950 has been ratified by all parties and is now in full effect. This agreement covers the period April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025.

CUPE 2950 represents approximately 1,700 clerical and secretarial staff and library assistants and Chan Centre front-of-house and back-of-house staff who work at multiple sites associated with the Vancouver campus.

Joint announcement on collective bargaining from UBC and the UBC Faculty Association

The following message is a joint announcement on collective bargaining from the University of British Columbia and the UBC Faculty Association, on behalf of Dory Nason, President, UBC Faculty Association, and Deborah Buszard, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia. This announcement was sent to the UBC Executive, Provosts, Vice-Provosts, Deans, and Senior HR Leaders on May 2, 2023. 

We are pleased to announce that the Faculty Association and the University have reached a tentative Collective Agreement for period of July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025. The University and the Faculty Association will now begin our respective ratification processes. 

We would like to thank our respective negotiating teams for all their hard work in achieving the tentative settlement.
