Re: Bargaining Bulletin #34 – Tentative Agreement Between the University and IUOE 882
We are very pleased to share with you that yesterday the university and IUOE 882 have reached a tentative agreement. IUOE 882 represents 63 operating engineers and mechanical maintenance trades in Building Operations, Energy & Water Services and Student Housing & Hospitality Services at the Vancouver campus.
The agreement reached falls within the Provincial Government’s Economic Stability Mandate and is for the period April 1, 2014, through March 31, 2019. Both parties will now take the tentative agreement through their respective ratification/approval processes. IUOE 882 will hold a ratification vote this Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.
We wish to congratulate the bargaining teams for their hard work, patience and commitment to reaching an agreement through negotiations. It has been particularly challenging for them with the history of this set of negotiations and associated scrutiny.
We will continue to provide updates as the ratification process unfolds. An overview of collective bargaining is available at http://www.hr.ubc.ca/collective-bargaining/.
