Re: Bargaining Bulletin #25 – Collective Bargaining Update
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with an update on developments in collective bargaining at UBC.
We are very pleased to share with you that on Wednesday, the University and CUPE 2278 reached a tentative agreement. CUPE 2278 represents Teaching Assistants (Component 1) and English as an Additional Language Instructors in the English Language Institute of Continuing Studies (Component 2).
The agreement reached falls within the Provincial Government’s Economic Stability Mandate and is for the period Sept. 1, 2014, through Aug. 31, 2019. Both parties will now take the tentative agreement through their respective ratification/approval processes.
We wish to congratulate the bargaining teams for the work they have done in securing this agreement, and for their commitment to the bargaining process.
While we will provide updates over the balance of the summer on the ratification process, and outstanding bargaining, we wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a restful, safe and happy summer.
