The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with a brief update on developments in collective bargaining at UBC.

We are happy to announce that a tentative deal has been reached between UBC and BCGEU, representing Childcare Staff at the Vancouver campus. The five-year agreement, for the period May 1, 2014, through April 30, 2019, is within the Provincial Government’s Economic Stability Mandate.

The parties reached this tentative agreement after a productive round of bargaining, reaching clarity and amendments to a number of items within the agreement.

BCGEU members will hold a ratification vote on the tentative agreement on Jan. 12, 2015. If a positive result is achieved through this process, the agreement will be presented to the UBC Board of Governors for their ratification in early February.

The University plans to resume bargaining with CUPE 2950 and CUPE 116 in January, with dates to be confirmed shortly
