Travel Advisories

Before leaving on a trip outside of BC, all travellers should check the travel advisories and health notices for their destination. Depending on your destination, you may not be covered under UBC’s Extended Health Travel benefit for illness or injury related to certain circumstances, or you may not be able to access Europ Assistance for help in a medical emergency.

The responsibility is on the traveller to check the status of the destination to which they are travelling, in order to be informed about the risks inherent to that area, and to understand how their benefits coverage may be impacted.

If you are concerned or unsure if you will be able to access medical emergency travel assistance while travelling out of BC, contact Europ Assistance to ask if they are able to provide service in your area of destination. As international circumstances can change without notice and can occur while you are travelling, it is advisable to contact Europ Assistance to determine if their services could be impacted by these changes.

It is important to check the Government of Canada’s travel advisories and the Public Health Agency of Canada’s travel health notices before you leave on your trip, so you are not caught unaware in your travels. Review all entry and exit requirements to ensure that you understand the passport and visa requirements, as well as other entry/exit requirements.
