Leaving the RSB Plan

You can choose to leave the Retirement and Survivor Benefits Program at any time. To resign from the plan, contact Amy Kao at 604.822.4580, and your benefits will be discontinued. If you contact us before the 10th of the month, your benefits will cease at the end of that calendar month. If you contact us after that date, the benefits will cease at the end of the following month.

Note: Should you choose to leave the RSB plan, you will not have the option of re-enrolling at a later date even if you leave to join a spouse’s or partner’s plan and that plan ends at some future date.

In the Event of Your Death

If an RSB member dies, the surviving spouse and children already listed as dependents are eligible to continue their coverage as long as enrolment is within 31 days of the member’s death.  Survivors are requested to contact Amy Kao at 604.822.4580 in Human Resources to make the necessary changes. This coverage will continue until they no longer meet the definition of a dependent on the plan, or they elect to leave the plan and stop paying premiums.
