The RSB Program offers a continuation of group benefits to UBC community members who retire or leave the University for any reason after age 55. Surviving family of UBC community members who were eligible for benefits and have passed away at any age may also be eligible for the program.
The RSB Program is made up of three benefits plans: Extended Health, Dental and Employee & Family Assistance Program. In addition, you have the option of enrolling in Medical Services Plan (MSP) through the plan, as an added service to our members. Please note that UBC RSB coverage differs from the UBC active benefits for current employees, and has a different group number.
In this section, you can review information about choosing RSB, comparison chart, enroling in RSB, how to make a claim, changes to your enrolment, and how to leave the RSB Plan.
The program provides a wide range of coverage, and we work hard to keep your premium rates as reasonable as possible. For more information, please see what benefits are covered, and the premium rates.
For full information on retiring from UBC, please visit our Retirement section.
You must join the Retirement and Survivor Benefits (RSB) Program within 31 days of leaving employment at UBC and/or the end of coverage under UBC benefit plans if you are a surviving dependent.
If you elect not to enroll in the RSB Program at the time you leave UBC or UBC benefits coverage ends as a surviving dependent or if you defer enrolment in RSB because you are covered by a spouse’s or partner’s plan, you do not have the option of joining at a later date.
