Managing Illness, Injury or Death

When you or a loved one becomes ill, benefits will be the last thing your mind. However, knowledge and documentation of your coverage in advance may help ease the challenges you or your loved ones may face.

From a typical sick day to something far more serious, UBC Benefits offers a support for faculty and staff and their families to manage through difficult times.

Benefits plans differ slightly depending on which employee group you belong to. If you’re not sure which employee group you belong to, click here.

  • Leaves and Vacation Benefits

To help manage work, family and other responsibilities, UBC offers various Leave (or time-off with or without pay) options to its faculty and staff. Some examples of supported leave may include: personal leave, dealing with short-term illness or injury, compassionate care and bereavement leave.
