We are excited to continue Humans of Human Resources as part of Benefits FYI. Our next ‘human’ is the energetic and outdoorsy Tracey Hawthorn, UBC’s Work Re-Integration & Accommodation Program (WRAP) Coordinator at the Okanagan campus.
Tracey, tell us a bit about yourself
I have been working at UBC Okanagan for five years as the Work Re-Integration and Accommodation Program Coordinator. My background is in Physiotherapy and Kinesiology. I have a great job, as it allows me to help staff and faculty with returning to work, staying at work and being healthy. You will often see me with my yoga mat on campus, walking to an exercise class, a session on mindfulness, or a Behaviour Modification, Exercise and Nutrition class.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to have fun in the outdoors; snowboarding with my kids, dragon boat racing with my friends, or swimming across the Okanagan Lake.
How would your best friend describe you?
I think they would describe me two ways. Either, full of energy (question most people ask me is “Do you ever get tired?” The answer is almost never, there is too much fun to be had) or else they would describe me as giving (I recently did 49 Acts of Kindness for others on my birthday. What a great way to celebrate and give back to others and our community!)
