HR for Administrators

Advisory Services staff can support you with expertise in staff HR issues, such as interpreting the collective agreements and handbooks, day-to-day staff management concerns, and employee relations.

For information on supporting faculty, please visit the Faculty Relations section of the UBC HR website.

Our HR Advisors and Associates counsel UBC administrators and individual staff members in a number of ways:

Recruiting: HR Associates can support you through the staff recruitment process (faculty recruitment is supported by Faculty Relations), including providing advice on job descriptions, the posting process, shortlisting resumes, interviewing and selecting a candidate. They can also provide technical support for the e-recruit system.

Managing Staff: The day-to-day management of your staff often needs HR support, such as collective agreement interpretation, attendance management, calculating stat or vacation pay, performance management strategies, dealing with internal conflict, or employees who are sick, resigning or retiring.
Employee Relations

Employee Relations:  Our Employee Relations group is responsible for collective bargaining and the administration of the various collective agreements between the University and our employee groups. We provide training and support regarding collective agreements, interpretation, human rights legislation and employment standards.
